Update NEX to version 1.3.0.0 or later, open Browser from the bottom toolbar, and choose a service such as YouTube, Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV, or Prime Video. After signing in, you can watch inside the NEX App's viewing environment. Services, catalogs, and compatibility vary by region.
How to play local or USB videos
Local files are reliable for travel and offline viewing but use headset storage. USB files save internal space but require a compatible USB-C/OTG device, file system, and permission. In the NEX media library, choose the source, open the folder, and select the video.
How to play movies from a PC or NAS
- SMB: useful for Windows shared folders and most NAS devices;
- DLNA: simple setup and automatic media-server discovery;
- WebDAV: manual connection with a server address, port, and account;
- NEX Link: connects a PC library and can process 2D-to-3D conversion on supported PCs.
Connect Meta Quest and the PC or NAS to the same reachable local network. With NEX Link, first add the videos or folders you want to access on the PC.
How to choose the correct display mode
- Regular movies and home videos: 2D flat or curved screen;

Put all devices on the same local network, avoid guest Wi-Fi, and check the PC service and firewall. For high-bitrate video, connect the PC or NAS by Ethernet, use strong 5 GHz or faster Wi-Fi for Meta Quest, and pause large downloads.
Why are external subtitles missing?
Place the subtitle beside the video, use a similar filename, and try SRT, ASS, or VTT. For network playback, make sure the player can access the subtitle path too.
