NEX Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 7, 2026

Thank you for using NEX (hereinafter referred to as “the App”).

This Privacy Policy applies to NEX as offered on PICO, Meta Quest, and other supported VR/XR platforms. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Policy explains how we process, use, store, and protect information associated with your use of NEX.

By using NEX, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Process

NEX is a VR/XR video player designed primarily for local processing. To provide its core functionality and comply with applicable platform requirements, we may process the following limited information:

1.1 Device Information (Solely to Provide Functionality)

To ensure NEX functions properly on your device, we may access:

  • Device model and system version

  • Local storage permissions, used only to read video files you choose to play

  • Network connection status, used to enable SMB, DLNA, and NEX Link features

1.2 Platform Service Data (PICO and Meta Quest)

Depending on the platform where you use NEX, how you obtained it, and the features you enable, we may process the following information provided by the PICO platform or Meta Horizon platform:

  • Platform Account Identifier: For example, a PICO User ID or Meta User ID, used to authenticate the current user, verify App or In-App Purchase entitlements, and prevent unauthorized access. We do not use these identifiers for advertising or cross-platform tracking.

  • In-App Purchase (IAP) and Entitlement Data: For example, the status of a product, order, transaction, or subscription, used to complete or restore purchases, unlock paid features, and verify that an entitlement remains active. We do not receive full payment credentials such as your complete card number; payments are processed by the applicable platform.

  • Age Group or Purchase Eligibility Information: Processed only when provided by the applicable platform and required for a specific feature, to determine feature or purchase eligibility and comply with platform requirements. Unless separately disclosed, NEX does not ask you to provide your full date of birth.

PICO and Meta independently process information associated with their platform stores, accounts, and payment services under their respective privacy policies. NEX does not control that processing. For details, please review the PICO Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy.

If you choose to submit a crash report or feedback, we may receive:

  • Crash logs

  • Technical information related to the App’s running state

  • Text or messages you voluntarily provide

We use this information only to diagnose problems, respond to your request, and improve product quality, and retain it only for as long as necessary for those purposes.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To maximize user privacy, NEX does not collect, upload, or store the following as part of its video playback functionality:

  • Your video files or video content

  • Viewing history or usage patterns

  • Local network scan results or server lists, including SMB and DLNA results

All media decoding and playback occur on your local device. Your video content and local network scan results are not uploaded to our servers. Purchase or entitlement verification may communicate with the applicable platform service, and crash reports or feedback are sent only when you submit or consent to them.

3. Access to Files and Local Network Resources

The App requests certain permissions to provide NEX functionality:

3.1 Local File Access

Used solely to locate and play video files stored on your headset.

We do not collect, analyze, or upload the content of those files.

3.2 SMB / DLNA Local Network Access

Used to discover media servers and shared folders within your local network.

Scan results and server information are not transmitted outside your local network.

3.3 USB Storage Access

When a USB storage device is connected, NEX may read available video files for playback.

We do not upload files or data from your USB storage device to our servers.

NEX Link allows your headset to access files on your computer over your local network.

File transfers through NEX Link occur only within your local network and are not routed through our external servers.

4. How We Store Data

The App may save certain necessary data locally on your device, including:

  • Playback preferences

  • User configuration

  • Last playback position (optional and can be disabled)

Platform account identifiers and purchase entitlement data are processed only to the extent and for the period necessary to verify or restore purchases, protect security, or comply with applicable platform requirements. Account and order data retained by a platform is managed by that platform under its privacy policy.

You can delete data stored locally by NEX by uninstalling the App or clearing the App’s data in your device settings.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You can manage information associated with NEX in the following ways:

  • Access and Review: You can review relevant locally saved settings within the App.

  • Revoke Permissions: You can revoke storage, network, or platform permissions granted to NEX through your headset settings. Some features may no longer function as a result.

  • Delete Local Data: You can delete locally stored preferences, playback positions, cached platform information, and other local data by uninstalling the App or selecting “Clear Data” in your device settings.

  • Request Deletion of Data We Process: Contact us at [email protected]. To prevent unauthorized deletion, we may need to verify your identity or relevant platform account identifier. We will handle your request within the period required by applicable law.

  • Manage Platform Data: If PICO or Meta independently holds the relevant information, please exercise your rights through the account, privacy, or customer support channels offered by that platform.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information we process, including:

  • Processing media content locally

  • Limiting the purposes for and access to platform data

  • Preventing unauthorized data collection or disclosure

However, no technology or transmission method can guarantee absolute security in every scenario.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to NEX functionality, supported platforms, our data practices, or applicable legal requirements.

The updated Policy will be published on this page, within the App, or through another appropriate channel and will include a new “Last Updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights or how we process information, we will provide additional notice through an appropriate channel.
