NEX Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 2026-2-24

Thank you for using NEX (hereinafter referred to as “the App”).

We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your data.

By using NEX, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

NEX is a local VR/XR video player. To provide core functionality and comply with platform requirements, we collect and process limited data as follows:

1.1 Device Information (for functionality purposes only)

To ensure NEX functions properly on your device, we may access:

  • Device model and system version

  • Storage access permissions (used only to read local video files)

  • Network status (to enable SMB, DLNA, and NEX Link features)

1.2 Meta Platform Data (Data Use Checkup Compliance)

To provide In-App Purchases (IAP) and maintain security, we process the following data provided by the Meta Horizon platform:

  • USER_ID: We use your unique Meta User ID to verify your identity and confirm whether you have purchased the Full Version of the App.

  • IAP (In-App Purchase) Data: We process purchase records to unlock premium features and ensure your entitlement is active.

  • USER_AGE: We access age information to determine eligibility for making In-App Purchases (e.g., verifying if the user meets the age requirement of 16+ for transactions).

If you choose to submit a crash report or feedback, we may receive:

  • Crash logs

  • Technical information about the app’s running state

  • Any text or message you voluntarily provide

This information is used solely to improve product quality and is deleted after processing.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To maximize user privacy, NEX explicitly does not collect, upload, or store:

  • Your video files

  • Viewing history or usage patterns

  • Local network scan results (including SMB/DLNA server lists)

All media processing occurs entirely on your local device. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud.

3. Access to Files and Local Network Resources

Because of NEX’s functionality, the App requires certain permissions:

3.1 Local File Access

Used solely to locate and play video files stored on your headset.

We do not collect, analyze, or upload any file content.

3.2 SMB / DLNA Local Network Access

Used to discover media servers and shared folders within your local network.

Scan results and server information are never transmitted outside your network.

3.3 USB Storage Access

When a USB drive is connected, NEX may read available video files for playback.

We do not store or upload any USB data.

NEX Link allows your headset to access files on your computer over your local network.

All file transmissions occur exclusively within your LAN and are never routed through external servers.

4. How We Store Data

The App may save some necessary settings locally on your device, including:

  • Playback preferences

  • User configuration

  • Last playback position (optional and can be disabled)

You can remove all such data at any time by uninstalling the App.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have full control over your data:

  • Access & Review: You can review your locally saved settings within the App.

  • Revoke Permissions: You may refuse storage, network, or platform permissions via your headset settings.

  • Data Deletion Mechanism:

    • Local Data: You can delete all locally stored data (including preferences and cached platform info) at any time by uninstalling the App or selecting "Clear Data" in the device settings.

    • Platform Data: To request deletion of your information, please contact us at [email protected]. We will review and handle your request within 30 days.

    • Support Request: If you have questions about data removal, you can contact us at [email protected].

6. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical measures to protect your privacy, including:

  • Local-only processing

  • No persistent cloud storage

  • No unauthorized data collection

However, no technology can guarantee 100% security across all scenarios.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect functional changes or legal requirements.

Updates will be posted within the App or through other appropriate channels.
